FAQ¶
Common questions about playing on the Relaunch server. If you have a question that isn't answered here, ask in our Discord or open an issue on the project repo.
Getting Started¶
How do I connect to the server?¶
See Getting Started → Install the Client and Connect to Server for the full walkthrough.
Do I need a Square Enix account or game license?¶
No. The Relaunch server runs against a private server built on LandSandBoat. You only need the FFXI client itself, not an active SE subscription.
How do I create a character?¶
Once connected, the standard FFXI character-creation flow runs as usual. Your first login then triggers a one-time auto-setup that grants every weapon skill, capped combat/magic skills, four starter Trusts (Shantotto, Kupipi, Trion, and Tenzen), all quests flagged complete, all missions flagged complete, all key items and maps, all outpost warps, every home point, all survival guides, expanded wardrobes, and all automaton attachments; the rest of the Trust roster is earned from content NMs, and custom allies at the Void Keeper stay locked until you collect enough, plus 500 starter Unity Accolades for the Unity Wanted board. First login gives you 300,000 gil and 25 Hunt Marks — enough for a first Bronze-tier weapon. Every new character also receives a Legendary Ring — a Rare/Ex heirloom accessory: a powerful all-jobs ring that speeds up EXP and Capacity gain, grants Auto-Reraise and extra movement speed, and keeps your EXP safe when you fall in battle. The level cap is 99 from day one (no Limit Break quests); type !leaf to visit the setup Moogles and start leveling at 3× EXP.
Is the server open to everyone, or invite-only?¶
The Relaunch server is currently invite-only — new accounts aren't created automatically. Ask in our Discord and a GM will set you up with a login. Your characters and progress are always preserved; access is only controlled at the connection step.
How fast can I reach level 99?¶
Fast — mob EXP is 3× and your subjob levels itself in the background. Type !expcamp to warp to a level-appropriate camp, !buff for a multi-hour Regen/Refresh package, and !fellow to summon an Adventuring Fellow as a full extra party member. See Achieving Your First 99.
Progression & Power¶
Why does my character feel weak compared to retail at the same level?¶
Stats are tuned for this server's faster progression curve, but combat is balanced around the level-99 cap with rebalanced gear. If you feel weak, check the Gear Vendors page — the Hunt Marks currencies are the fastest path to iLvl 119 gear.
How do I earn Hunt Marks?¶
Kill the NMs at the Hunting League Spawner. Each NM gives points scaled by tier; higher tiers give more. Unlock tiers using the Hub NPC at the hunt zone.
What's the difference between the Hunting League NPC and the Reforge System NPC?¶
- Hunting League — entry-to-mid-tier gear sold for Hunt Marks and the three League medals (Beastmens Medal (bronze) 5 / Kindreds Medal (silver) 15 / Demons Medal (gold) 40 — costs in Hunt Marks).
- Reforge System — AF/Relic/Empyrean reforge upgrades. Drops base pieces + currency by killing categorized NMs (Sky Gods → AF Marks, Unity NMs → Relic Marks, Abyssea NMs → Empy Marks).
How does the Augment Moogle differ from the Augment Sage?¶
- Augment Moogle (in Purgonorgo Isle) stamps augments onto gear: trade one piece + up to 5 catalysts (10,000 gil flat per trade). Each catalyst writes one augment line, and every line's value is rolled inside your Augment Tier band — 5 tiers gated by content milestones, covering the 0–31 roll space.
- Augment Sage improves your rolls (the old rank multiplier is retired): each Mastery rank raises the roll floor by +1 (up to +5) and lifts the perfect-roll crit chance from 5% to 30%. Ranks unlock automatically at content milestones (Hunting League rank, Prestige level, Job Rebirths, Gauntlet clears — nothing is consumed). Per-NM affinities make matching-category augments roll twice and keep the better; registering one takes Hunting League Rank 3, 250 Hunt Marks, and the NM's trophy (consumed). Talk to the Sage to track and rank up.
I just hit level 99 — what should I do next?¶
That first 99 is where the server opens up. Right away you can:
- Claim free reforged AF/Relic/Empyrean (iLvl 109) with !shop.
- Grab a one-time batch of free augment catalysts from the Commemoration Moogle.
- Start the Hunting League (!hunt) for Hunt Marks and gear, and farm Capacity Points (!capacity) toward Master.
- Begin Ascension, Job Rebirth, Unity NMs, and High-Tier Battlefields.
The Achieving Your First 99 guide walks the whole path.
What's the difference between Job Rebirth and Ascension (Prestige)?¶
Both are permanent, per-job power trees on top of a level-99 job: - Job Rebirth resets a Mastered job to level 1 (wiping its Job Points) in exchange for Rebirth Points spent on permanent boosts. It's repeatable, but each rebirth adds an EXP penalty on that job — a deliberate grind. - Ascension / Prestige never resets anything: once you reach Hunting League Legend you re-clear a scaling trial and pay Hunt Marks for Ascension Points — a parallel stat tree with no EXP penalty and no level cap.
They're independent and both apply while that job is active.
How do I get iLvl 119 gear?¶
Two main routes: - Unity Wanted NMs drop base iLvl 119 pieces; trade the base back with Unity Accolades to upgrade it to the +1 (HQ) version. - Reforge System upgrades your AF/Relic/Empyrean armor by farming the three NM pools (Sky Gods → AF Marks, Unity NMs → Relic Marks, Abyssea NMs → Empy Marks).
Where do augment catalysts come from?¶
Most mobs have a chance to drop one (Treasure Hunter improves it), and they go straight into your Arcane Bank — never taking inventory slots. Named monsters don't drop them. You also get a one-time batch free from the Commemoration Moogle at your first level 99, and !augwarp <stat> warps you to a zone that drops a catalyst for that stat. See the Augmenting guide.
How do I master a job?¶
Earn Capacity Points — the fastest way is the always-up camp at !capacity — and convert them into Job Points. When a job's Job Points are fully maxed it becomes Mastered, which unlocks Job Rebirth for that job and powers up your character-wide Paragon perks.
How do I build an ultimate (Relic / Mythic / Empyrean / Aeonic / Prime) weapon?¶
At the Weapon Forger in the hub. Each path runs base → iLvl 119 → 119 II → 119 III, gated by a distinct content ladder plus Hunting League rank and materials. Prime sits on top — finish an Aeonic first, then clear the Prime trials. See Weapon Forge; !forgegates shows your progress on every gate.
What do "crit" and "crystalize" mean when augmenting?¶
- A crit augment forces the best possible roll on every line of that trade. It happens at the Augment Sage's crit chance, or you can guarantee one by consuming a Maat's Cap.
- Crystalize then locks a perfect line so it survives future re-augments of that piece.
See the Augment Sage and the Augmenting guide.
Why don't I earn Capacity Points on some monsters?¶
Certain special, event, and always-up farm mobs are flagged to give no Capacity Points, to stop them being turned into infinite CP farms. For reliable capacity, use the dedicated always-up camp at !capacity.
Is there an EXP penalty when I die?¶
No — you keep all your EXP on death here. A few hunt and event zones apply their own separate death penalty; the details (and the "Death's Pardon" item that waives one) are on the Death Penalty page.
Endgame Content¶
What do I need to enter High-Tier Battlefields, Omen, and Ambuscade?¶
Each has its own gate: - High-Tier Battlefields — be Mastered on the job you enter with and have all eleven augment affinities registered (the hardest tier opens after a one-time Final Proving). - Omen — you must have built a REMA or Prime weapon. - Ambuscade — one HNM King kill plus an HTBF clear at each of the three tiers.
How many trusts can I summon at once?¶
You start with two and can raise the cap to five: 3 once you raise your Fellow to Lv100, OR Rebirth any job, 4 once you reach Voidwatch tier 5 and clear at least 3 different strata, 5 once you conquer every Unity Wanted NM. Your Adventuring Fellow (!fellow) is a free extra that doesn't use a trust slot.
Custom Commands¶
Where's the full list of player commands?¶
Reference → Player Commands — every player command, with parameter types and descriptions. Each is tagged upstream or custom so you can tell which are server-specific.
What does !mystats show me?¶
A complete dump of every stat your character has, including bonuses from gear and active buffs. Useful for verifying that a piece of gear is actually doing what its tooltip says. See the !mystats entry for the full output format.
Can I auto-spend job points / merits?¶
Yes — !autojp and !automerits. Both spread points breadth-first across categories on your current main job, so no single category gets maxed before others get a look-in. See !autojp and !automerits.
What does !buff do?¶
It applies a long-duration support package — the zone's regional buff plus Regen, Refresh, Regain, Composure, and Reraise III — so you can level and fight without babysitting recasts. It also auto-applies when you enter the Hunting League hub.
How do I get around the world quickly?¶
Warp commands handle most travel: !hub (or !leaf) for the main hub, !expcamp for a leveling camp, !huntwarp for a Hunting League NM, and !waypoint to save and recall your own personal spots. You can also open the Auction House from anywhere with !ah.
Economy & Services¶
How does the Auction House work here?¶
The Auction House is kept stocked at fixed, level-bracketed prices by a system market-maker, and you can open it from anywhere with !ah — no trip to Jeuno. Buying a real player's listing pays that player; the system's own stock is priced as a gil sink, so leveling gear stays cheap and available.
How do I make gil?¶
Sell capped-out currencies to the Eminence Broker in the hub — it buys Sparks of Eminence, Unity Accolades, unspent Job Points, and Hunt Marks for gil. You can also sell drops on the Auction House (!ah). The Casino and Mystery Mog are entertainment gil sinks, not income.
Can I change my race or appearance?¶
- Race Changer — change your race and face for gil.
- Cosmetic Boutique — appearance-only outfits bought with Allied Notes (no stats).
What are the Bronze, Silver, and Gold medals for?¶
They're the gear-vendor currency (Beastmens Medal (bronze) 5 / Kindreds Medal (silver) 15 / Demons Medal (gold) 40 — costs in Hunt Marks). Earn them with Hunt Marks from the Hunting League, then spend them on tiered weapons, armor, and accessories.
Community & Multiplayer¶
How do I find other players?¶
- Leaderboards — top players by Hunt Marks, NM kills, lifetime currency earned.
- Player Profiles — browse individual character pages.
- Discord — live chat, group-up posts, server announcements.
Can I play solo?¶
Yes. Almost all custom content (Hunting League, Reforge System, Weekly Hunts) can be soloed at the cap. Difficulty is gear-checked, not group-size-checked.
Are there seasonal events or bonus periods?¶
Yes. A daily Happy Hour grants an EXP and Capacity boost to everyone online, and GMs can run bonus-mark events at any time. Check what's active with !events (or the Live Events and Seasonal Events pages).
Can I trade or give items to other players?¶
Yes — standard player trades work, and you can mail items through the delivery box (open it at the hub Moogle, or alongside !ah). The exception is bound starter and vendor gear: it's flagged Rare/Exclusive and can't be traded or mailed.
Technical / Server Issues¶
The server's down / I can't connect. What do I do?¶
- Check the Discord #server-status channel first — outages and maintenance windows are announced there.
- If the server is up but you can't connect, verify your client is pointed at the right login server (see Connect to Server).
I think I found a bug. Where do I report it?¶
Two options: - GitHub Issues — preferred for reproducible bugs with clear steps. - Discord #bug-reports — for quick reports or "is this intended?" questions.
My character got stuck / I lost an item / something broke. Can a GM help?¶
Ping a GM in Discord. Specify your character name, what happened, and roughly when. Most stuck-character and accidental-deletion situations can be resolved.
Can I use Windower and addons?¶
Yes. A recommended addon set and the server's Custom DAT pack are on the Downloads page — grab those after installing the client.
Server Customizations¶
What's different about this server vs. retail / vs. plain LandSandBoat?¶
The Retail Differences page is the authoritative list. Highlights:
- Faster rates — 3× mob EXP, 3× capacity points, 1× drops (full table on the home page)
- Level cap 99 from character creation — no Limit Break quests
- Full-level subjob that also levels itself in the background
- Jobs, maps, outpost warps, and weapon skills unlocked at creation. You start with four Trusts; the rest you farm
- Custom Hunting League, Reforge System, Augment Sage, Job Rebirth, and Weekly Hunt Board systems
- Every player command listed in Reference → Player Commands
Can I use universal ninjutsu tools with NIN as a subjob?¶
Yes — at level 75+, the universal tools (Inoshishinofuda, Shikanofuda, Chonofuda) work with NIN set as your subjob, not just as your main job like on retail. Below 75 you'll still need the regular per-spell tools (Shihei, Uchitake, and so on) when subbing NIN.
Are character files / progress safe? Are there backups?¶
Yes — daily backups of the character database are taken. In a worst case, the most you'd lose is a few hours.
Have a question that should be on this page? Ping a GM in Discord and we'll add it.
