The 1–99 Checklist

A step-by-step run from a brand-new character to level 99 and your first real gear. Do these in order and you won't miss anything. For the higher-level "why" behind it all, see Achieving Your First 99 — this page is the literal checklist.

Before you do anything — let the gifts finish loading

The moment your character is created, the server bulk-grants every job spell (not Trusts), weapon skill, trait, combat/magic skill, and key item and caps them out. You start with four Trusts; the rest you earn from content. This takes a few minutes — you'll see …downloading data… at the top of the screen, and a wall of text will scroll by when it's done. Do NOT zone until it finishes — zoning mid-grant can interrupt it. Sit tight until the text stops. (For everything you're handed at creation, see the Systems Map.)

1. Set up Records of Eminence (RoE)

Head to Eternal Flame in Western Adoulin (by the Mog House) to activate RoE, then set any objectives you'd like. RoE runs in the background and feeds you EXP, Sparks, and Unity Accolades as you play — set it before you start grinding so nothing's wasted. See Subjob EXP & RoE.

2. Take your first Gobbie Dial roll

Find the Gobbie Dial NPC and take your first free random roll. It resets daily, so grab it now and every day after.

3. Dial in your settings

Set your preferences while you're thinking of it — auto inventory sort, chat filters, and anything else you like. Small thing, big quality-of-life payoff.

4. Warp to the hub

Type !hub to reach the single island plaza (Purgonorgo Isle) where every custom NPC lives — shops, exchanges, travel, and endgame vendors. See The Hub.

5. Pick your job (main + sub)

Visit the Nomad Moogle at the !hub landing to change your main job and set your subjob. Every job and subjob is already unlocked, so play whatever you like. Your subjob levels on its own as you play — see Subjob EXP.

6. Set up your Adventuring Fellow

Talk to the Fellow officer to spend your points and set your Fellow's role — a solid free companion for solo leveling. See Adventuring Fellow.

7. Grab starter gear

  • !ah — pick up cheap leveling gear off the Auction House, kept stocked at fixed prices.
  • !shop — optional early buys; browse the rare/ex gear here too. See Shop Command.

Visit the Me Like Gil NPC in !hub to turn your Sparks of Eminence and other currencies into gil. See Sparks Exchange.

8. Level to 99

Time to grind. Mob EXP is 3×, so 99 comes fast.

  • Travel to a camp via the Survival Guide in !hub, or jump straight there with !expcamp — run it alone to list the 22 level-banded camps, from La Theine Plateau (10–25) up to Kamihr Drifts (95–99), then !expcamp <#> to warp to one.
  • Don't forget !buff — Refresh / Regen / Regain plus your regional buff: free sustain that makes solo leveling comfortable. Recast it whenever it drops or you change zones.

9. Milestones — level 50 wares, then your first-99 gift

  • At level 50, head back to !hub and see the Welcome Moogle: it opens a 1,000 gil starter shop. Every piece has two fixed augments, and it only shows gear your current job can wear. Full list and augments: Welcome Moogle.
  • At your first level 99, visit the Commemoration Moogle in !hub for a one-time gift of up to 48 free augment catalysts (these genuinely are free). Hitting 99 is also where augmenting unlocks, so these 48 catalysts are your starter stash for it.

Choose your 48 catalysts wisely

The picks are final — catalysts are bound to your character and can't be refunded, exchanged, or traded. Plan the augment sets you want before you claim, so none of the 48 go to waste. See the Augmenting Guide to plan ahead.

10. Gear up — claim your reforged AF / Relic / Empyrean

Now that you're 99, kit out for endgame:

  • !shop — reforge your Artifact / Relic / Empyrean sets into their iLvl 109 versions, for free. See Shop Command.
  • Push them further with the Reforge system — upgrade AF / Relic / Empyrean up to iLvl 119.
  • Round out the rest of your kit from the Gear Guide and the Hunting League Gear Vendors.
