Ambuscade¶
Retail-style instanced boss fights in Mhaura, on demand and freely repeatable. Clear fights to earn Hallmarks and Gallantry, spend them on armor vouchers, weapon skins, and the Abdhaljs materials that upgrade both.
Summary
Talk to the Ambuscade Tome in Mhaura to enter a private instance (three modes × five difficulties). Clears pay Hallmarks (monthly-capped) and Gallantry. Spend Hallmarks at Gorpa-Masorpa on gear vouchers and Abdhaljs materials. Redeem vouchers at the Voucher Clerk for your job's Ambuscade armor — then trade the piece + Abdhaljs Metal/Fiber back to Gorpa-Masorpa to upgrade it to +1/+2.
Entry requirements¶
Ambuscade is endgame content. Before the Tome will let you in, you must have:
- At least 1 HNM King kill — Fafnir, Nidhogg, Adamantoise, Aspidochelone, Behemoth, or King Behemoth. Any alliance member on the kill is credited.
- At least 1 HTBF clear at each of T1, T2, and T3 — three separate clears total, one per tier.
The gate applies both to the host and to anyone joining a party member's instance — every player who zones in must qualify individually. The Tome will tell you exactly what's missing if you're short.
The NPCs¶
All three stand together in Mhaura:
| NPC | Role | Position |
|---|---|---|
| Ambuscade Tome | Enter the instance | (-28.0, -15.5, 52.3) |
| Gorpa-Masorpa | Hallmark/Gallantry shops, weapon path, armor upgrades (by trade) | (-27.6, -16.0, 52.6) |
Voucher Clerk (the !) |
Redeem vouchers → armor | (-26.6, -16.0, 52.6) |
Earning Hallmarks¶
- Three modes — Intense, Regular, Light — each at five difficulties (VD/D/N/E/VE). Harder = more Hallmarks.
- Time bonus: up to +50% on sub-5-minute clears.
- Monthly cap: 200,000 Hallmarks per calendar month (Gallantry is uncapped).
Hallmarks per clear¶
| Mode | VD | D | N | E | VE |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Intense | 3,600 | 2,400 | 1,200 | 800 | 400 |
| Regular | 600 | 500 | 400 | 300 | 200 |
| Light | 150 | 125 | 100 | 75 | 50 |
Gallantry is a party reward: an Intense VD clear pays 300 per extra party member (scaling down with difficulty); solo clears pay 0.
Abdhaljs Seal¶
The Abdhaljs Seal triples the Gallantry from your next party clear — solo runs pay no Gallantry, so a held Seal is never wasted, and it is consumed automatically on the clear it benefits. Manage them from the Seals menu at Gorpa-Masorpa:
- Buy: one per calendar month for 2,000 Hallmarks.
- Weekly: claim 2 free per calendar week.
Armor: vouchers → gear → upgrades¶
Step 1 — buy vouchers from Gorpa-Masorpa's Hallmark shop:
| Voucher | Cost (HM) | Voucher | Cost (HM) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Head | 3,000 | Head +1 | 5,000 |
| Body | 5,000 | Body +1 | 8,000 |
| Hands | 3,000 | Hands +1 | 5,000 |
| Legs | 5,000 | Legs +1 | 8,000 |
| Feet | 3,000 | Feet +1 | 5,000 |
Step 2 — redeem at the Voucher Clerk. Both retail armor lines are offered from the same vouchers — pick whichever set you want at the menu. Your main job decides the sets:
| Job | Set 1 (upgrades w/ Metal) | Set 2 (upgrades w/ Fiber) |
|---|---|---|
| WAR / PLD / DRK / DRG | Sulevia's | Flamma |
| MNK / NIN | Hizamaru | Mummu |

Links show the NQ piece — the +1/+2 upgrades keep the same name and are made by trade (below).
Step 3 — upgrade the piece:
Trade the armor piece to Gorpa-Masorpa with its line's Abdhaljs material (sold in the Hallmark shop for 100 HM each):
| Trade | Result |
|---|---|
| NQ piece + 5× Abdhaljs Metal/Fiber | +1 piece |
| +1 piece + 10× Abdhaljs Metal/Fiber | +2 piece |
Set 1 pieces use Abdhaljs Metal, Set 2 pieces use Abdhaljs Fiber. A +1 bought directly with a +1 voucher upgrades to +2 the same way.
Weapons¶
Gorpa-Masorpa also runs the Ambuscade weapon path: redeem a base Tokko weapon for Hallmarks, then walk the retail upgrade chain (Tokko → Ajja → Eletta → Kaja → Final) using the Abdhaljs materials from the shop. The final step also consumes a Pulse Cell, sold for Gallantry. See the Weapon Forge page for how Ambuscade weapons feed the wider weapon progression.
One copy per stage (RARE)
Every weapon in the chain is RARE — you can't redeem or upgrade into a stage you already own anywhere: equipment, wardrobes, mog safe, storage, locker, satchel, sack, or case. Note that Prime Weapon Forge Stage I/II weapons are the same items as Tokko/Ajja, so a Prime-track weapon of a given type blocks the Ambuscade base of that type (and vice versa). Gorpa-Masorpa will warn you before taking any Hallmarks or materials.
Gallantry shop¶
| Item | Cost (Gallantry) |
|---|---|
| Pulse Cell | 3,000 |
| Hi-Potion | 200 |
| Hi-Ether | 300 |
| Vile Elixir | 2,000 |
| Echo Drops | 50 |
| Antidote | 50 |
